Project Description
People living with a mental illness and their carers and families may be eligible for a free flu vaccination from the NHS. The flu jab helps to protect people at risk of flu, especially with the dual risk of COVID-19 this year.
We’ve created three information resources on flu vaccinations and severe mental illness, with input from the Equally Well Expert by Experience and Clinical Group members:
- Resource for people with severe mental illness and carers on the flu vaccination to know what they are entitled to, and the advantages of taking up the offer
- Resource for GPs and Pharmacists to help them with providing the vaccinations to people with a mental illness
- Resource for mental health teams on supporting and reminding people with mental illness to have the flu vaccination
All three resources list who is eligible for the free flu vaccination, along with helpful points and tips from experts by experience and profession. The documents are short easy reads with links to further information.
These resources are supported by NHS England & Improvement, Public Health England and Mind.
