Equally Well UK are looking for people with lived and living experience and experts by profession to sit on our new advisory group and help shape the campaign’s work.

This is an exciting time to be joining Equally Well UK as we are at the start of a new phase and are moving forward with renewed energy and purpose.

As part of this next phase, we are opening up opportunities to get more directly involved in guiding our work and joining the new Equally Well UK Advisory Group. This group will consist of 6 experts by profession and 6 people with lived and living experience, and will play a vital role in shaping priorities, providing insight, and helping ensure our collective voice makes the strongest possible impact.

By being involved you will have the opportunity to champion your own work, create meaningful connections and future collaborations and make a real impact by helping to shape our strategic priorities and direction.

We are inviting expressions of interest to be considered to be part of the Advisory Group. Please send no more than 300 words by email to shizana.arshad@centreformentalhealth.org.uk by Friday 14th November 2025. You are welcome to submit an audio response if easier to 07706 025675 or get in touch to discuss alternative ways of submitting your interest.

For people with lived or living experience we would love to know:

  • An example of when your physical health needs were supported (or not supported) while using mental health services, and what you learned from that experience.
  • What you think are the biggest barriers to people with severe mental illness getting the physical healthcare they need, and what changes would make the most difference.
  • What strengths, experiences, or ideas you would bring to the Equally Well UK advisory group, and how you would use your voice to help shape positive change.

For people with professional experience we would love to know:

  • How you have supported or advocated for the physical health needs of people with severe mental illness in your practice.
  • What you see as the biggest barriers to improving physical health outcomes for people with severe mental illness, and how might these be addressed at a system or service level.
  • What unique perspective or expertise you would bring to the Equally Well UK advisory group, and how would you use it to influence positive change.

If your application is shortlisted, you will be invited to an initial conversation with the Project Lead, Shizana Arshad, and one other person from Equally Well UK. This will be an opportunity for us to discuss together whether this role is right for you at this time, and for you to ask any questions. We will also discuss any extra support or adjustments you might need to take part. If you have any questions please contact shizana.arshad@centreformentalhealth.org.uk.

Please read our Terms of Reference to find out more about our purpose and what is involved in the role.

We’re excited about the road ahead and the difference we can make together and hope you will stand with us in working towards better physical health for people with severe mental illness.
